Stovetop Grate Light Guards
- by SB406
No modifications to the grates were required. The stovetop grates were acquired from a small Kenmore gas stove. They fit perfectly into the bezels on the '79 blazer. To attach them, all that was required was a torx screw driver, a drill, and some zip ties.
- Remove headlight bezels with torx screw driver (I had to do this anyway since the headlights were shot.)
- Test fit the grate on the bezel. Each bezel has a square recess in it which fits the grates perfectly.
- Mark spots to drill mounting holes. I put one "mount" on each side of the square grates. Each "mount" requires 2 holes, one on each side of the grate frame. (See picture, bottom-left)
- Insert zip ties through the mounting holes, but do not attach the grates yet, since you will block the bezel mounting holes.
- Reinstall the bezels using your torx screw driver.
- Zip tie on your stove grates.

If you ever need to remove the bezel to change a headlight, just cut the zip ties to access the bezel screws. Total cost: about $0.50 for zip ties.
